Turkey’s new combat helicopter to be unveiled at global expo.
Turkey’s new domestically-produced combat helicopter, known as ATAK-2, is set to be unveiled for the first time at the 14th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul.
Currently in-development, a mock-up of the plane will be on display at the international defense fair.
ATAK-2 is expected to take its maiden test flight as early as 2024.
Conceived as a combination of the T129 ATAK and T625, ATAK-2 uses sub-systems such as transmission, rotor systems and landing gears developed under the T625 Utility Helicopter Project as well as the technological know-how, operational experience and achievements gained through the T129 ATAK Helicopter Project.
ATAK 2 is a combat helicopter that can successfully perform its missions in harsh geographical and environmental conditions, which will have increased payload capacity and modern avionic systems alongside high performance and low maintenance costs.
Turkey’s domestically-produced and independently manufactured armored vehicle Pusat will also be on display at the country’s booth at IDEF’19.
