ISIS drone drops bomb on Iraqi Army barracks west of Mosul
Amaq Agency released three pictures on Sunday showing an armed ISIS drone striking an alleged Iraqi Army training facility in the Tal Zalat area west of Mosul.
ISIS has deployed armed drones dozens of times in the past across Syria and Iraq although the technology remains fairly non-sophisticated, utilizing a grip-release device on explosive shells mounted on commercial drones.
Amaq Agency also claimed an Islamic State assault on Jabal Atshanah west of Mosul destroyed three Humvees and caused Iraqi troops to flee the hilltop.
Meanwhile, heavy clashes continued inside Mosul city as both sides killed dozens of enemy combattants on Sunday. With ISIS slowly running low on ammunition, the Iraqi Army is gradually pushing through western Mosul amid an exhausting attritional battle.
Upwards of 90% of Mosul city has been liberated thus far although Amaq Agency claims over 9,000 Iraqi troops have been killed in combat consequently
